America's Killer Clown

Main body

Beginning in 1972, Chicago, Illinois native John Wayne Gacy killed 33 young males, burying most under his home.  Although he usually lured his victims with the promise of construction work, he often dressed as his alter ego "Pogo the Clown" for parties.  Rejecting his insanity defense, a jury found Gacy guilty in 1980, and he received 12 death penalty and 21 life sentences. He was executed by lethal injection on May 10, 1994.
