In this 1964 case, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Congress had the right to prohibit discrimination in public accommodations. The case was the earliest test of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its use of the Constitution's Commerce Clause to address issues of discrimination in the private sector.
